Why Do I Crochet?

I learned to crochet when I was 9 years old. I liked it, but I LOVED embroidery and spent my younger years enjoying that craft along with sewing. Fast forward to my early 30's when I met and started dating a great guy whose mother was an avid knitter. She let me know that knitting kept her arthritis pain to a minimum and always had a project on her needles.

I was experiencing some wrist pain at the time and decided to pick up my crochet hook again to see if it helped my wrists. The rhythmic movement of crocheting, which was opposite from the motion my arms experienced at the keyboard, helped my wrists tremendously. The more projects I finished, the more I fell in love with the color and textures of crochet work.

I had never thought of myself as the "creative type", but I soon realized that my new found love of crochet helped more than my wrists. There is a deep desire in each of us to create and if we find our niche it does wonders in making our lives more fulfilling.
